June 2, 2011: From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast
Welcome to the 97th episode of From Crisis to Crisis: A Superman Podcast! This podcast has a simple premise; examine just about every Superman comic published between Man of Steel #1 in 1986 to Adventures of Superman #649 in 2006 in an informative and hopefully entertaining format.
Part index. Part commentary. Part history lesson. All podcast.
It's another long one this week, folks. Not as long as last week but the episode does go over the two hour mark, so consider this your heads up on that sort of thing.
This week is historic, faithful listeners. During cover date April 1992 Superman officially joined a certain super-team and to celebrate such a momentous event Mike and Jeff have brought back Jon M. Wilson to sit third chair and discuss not two but three comics! In JUSTICE LEAGUE SPECTACULAR #1 an amusement park is taken hostage leading to a whole bunch of heroes joining forces to take on the Royal Flush Gang. The end result of all that? The reformation of the Justice League! Then in ACTION COMICS #676 Hellgrammite finally makes his move on Lex Luthor II. Finally, in JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA #61 Superman proves that he is the man before and while the team battles the Weapons Master. After that the boys and guest discuss two more episodes of the ADVENTURES OF SUPERBOY series and what other events were occurring in the DC Universe when these books were published.
Remember to check out Jon's podcast GOLDEN AGE SUPERMAN right here at the Superman Homepage!
NEXT WEEK: Things go back to normal as the boys look at SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL #11 and SUPERMAN #67.
