Superman is so well-known to the public that some companies have used the character to advertise products without even mentioning him directly. A TV commercial from 1978 used a parody of the familiar "Faster than a speeding bullet..." litany from the 1950s Adventures of Superman TV series and a character named "Mr. Kent" to advertise the Ford Fiesta automobile.
A second version of this commercial ended with an imitation George Reeves "Clark" and an ersatz Phyllis Coates "Lois" expressing their approval of the Ford Fiesta while standing on a street similar of those used in the old TV series. A passing pedestrian then tells "Clark" that his cape is sticking out of his jacket. (This version of the commercial is apparently unavailable online.)
