March 28, 2011: Noel Neill Approves of Amy Adams
Noel Neill, the original Lois Lane, approves of Amy Adams, the latest Lois Lane.
Noel Neill, who portrayed the character alongside Kirk Alyn in the original movie serials of 1948 and 1950, and who then went on to play the character for the majority of the 1950s "Adventures of Superman" TV series, contacted the Superman Homepage to let us know her thoughts on Amy Adams.
"Amy Adams as Lois Lane is a wonderful choice. She'll bring a lot to the role. She is a great actress with great acting depth. I have loved her work, so I have no doubt she will be an incredible Lois Lane. Welcome to the family, Amy!"
With a body of Superman related work spanning sixty years, including an appearance in the 1980s "Superboy" TV series, Noel Neill most recently appeared in the movie "Superman Returns", playing the role of Gertrude Vanderworth.
Known as the First Lady of Metropolis, with a bronze statue erected in her honor at the 2010 Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois, the up-coming 2011 Superman Celebration in June will be the first time in 10 years that Noel will miss the annual event.
